On October 26th, the day started off being one of those mornings that made you want to stay in bed. The wind was in a playful mood, gusting up to 10.1 mph and hiding the sunrise behind a thick blanket of 99% cloud cover. It was a typical late fall morning, with the temperature hovering around a chilly 39.7°F and the overcast skies hinting at the 0.52 inches of precipitation that was on its way.
As the day wore on, things started to lighten up a bit. The winds decided to calm down to a more reasonable 6.9 mph, and the clouds got the memo too, with coverage decreasing to 69.5%. Don't get too excited, though. By the time evening rolled in, the clouds had apparently changed their minds and decided to stick around, with coverage at 68.2% under a wind speed of 3.3 mph. But then again, in the grand tradition of meteorological mood swings, the cloud cover jumped back up to a staggering 94.8% by nightfall, with surface winds also ramping up to 6.9 mph. So, in short, the day was as unpredictable as one could expect from the Pacific Northwest in the fall.
