November 5th, 2025 Timelapse
On November 5th, 2025, the sky wasn’t exactly in a mood to put on much of a show. It was one of those hunker-down-with-a-good-book sort of days. An overcast morning kicked off with an average cloud cover of 99.8% and winds sweeping over the landscape at a brisk 11.7 mph. Afternoon conditions didn't vary much, with the cloud cover dropping a smidge to 97.3% and the surface winds picking up just slightly to 12.6 mph. The main event was the temperature, which ranged from a chilly 47.8°F to a more tolerable 57.2°F. Although, with an average temperature of 51.4°F for the day, you would definitely want to keep your jacket handy.
As the day transitioned into evening, the cloud cover got really serious, ramping up to a full 100% - no stars spotted on this night, folks. Winds also decided to dial it back a bit, averaging 10.2 mph. The interesting bit was the consistency of wind patterns across atmospheric layers. Despite the surface wind averaging 11.0 mph at night, there was a speed difference of 9.1 mph between the surface and 100m up. Just goes to show, even on a day as persistently overcast as this, there's more going on above our heads than we might think. And let's not forget about the 1.07 inches of rain we received. It may have been a damp and dreary day, but hey, even the clouds have to let off some steam now and then.
